Summary | 0015757: Images and text (AGAIN)
Description | Its because you guys think Scribus is great as it is and refuse to really take what is matters to it users. what i mean by text and images issues is this. WE NEED MORE OPTIONS ON PLACEHOLDER TEXT for a better fitting option manipulations like (tracking, leading, and more), and more options on images placeholder to better fitting the images when placing them, wether they big or small. like inDesign does it very well (Content-fit aware) etc.. and the GUI is the worse i ever seen in my life. something that really can better proportionate our images when making a images frame for badge or ID card. Your competitor knows exactly what it users wants, and taking care of them very effectively. but you guys needs to grow up and bring some more creativities on table!! What holds you back to copy or inspired from InDesign options ?

>> WE NEED MORE OPTIONS ON PLACEHOLDER TEXT for a better fitting option manipulations like (tracking, leading, and more) Leading aka line spacing is already available: - in 1.4.x : Windows > Properties > Text, there are 3 line spacing mode available, and line spacing can be explicitly set when when using fixed linespacing more - in 1.5.x : Windows > Text Properties, same line spacing modes are available Kerning and other options can be found in the same window in the "Advanced Settings" tab. >> and more options on images placeholder to better fitting the images when placing them, wether they big or small. like inDesign does it very well (Content-fit aware) Well I've not heard much good about "content aware fit" from those using Indesign. What I've heard about content-aware fit sound more like "usually does not a good job". >> What holds you back to copy or inspired from InDesign options ? Well at the moment we are only two guy developing Scribus during our free time while Adobe has several hundreds developers working full time. So there is just an enormous gap in term of man power. |

Nice to hear those things!! yup i meant Content-aware fit just to give you an idea, but you guys can come up with something similar but truly handy and versatile etc.. I was using scribus a couple months ago, and that is why i left it. and i switched back to InDesign a tree month ago, and boom!!! I replicated the same ID card i did on scribus to make a comparaison and its looks even brighter and cleaner than the one i did on Scribus! If i was a developer i would be glad to be a volunteer to make Scribus a beast, but i hope as graphic designer to become a developer and help out scribus and other platform that are doing incredible efforts to make the world a better place. |
