Summary0001095: Picture frame with caption field
DescriptionRight now, it can be tedious to create and keep photo's and captions together. For instance, if you want to create a border that wraps around the picture and the caption, it takes some careful arranging and grouping to keep it all together.
Additional InformationThe solution:

An extra feature would be a check box to incorporate the caption information in a global picture index.

There already is a script legende.py to do this. check PREFIX/share/scribus/samples. Maybe that script could also be made to group the image and caption frame.

A new frame type would be cleaner, and it would open possibilities of indexing the captions for a table of illustrations, etc. This type of functionality should be part if the main program, so scripts can expand on it for special needs.

Stupid Me! Finally dawned on me to use tables for pictures that need captions. Just create a 1 column, 2 rows table, convert the upper cell to a picture frame, and type the caption in the bottom. Cool!

Having an option like this:

Right-click on picture, select "Add Caption Cell"

would still be nice, but tables are quite useful.

For me tables are not useful at all. In this case there is no text flow property, because table is in fact grouped frames. Grouping objects unfortunately set text flow property to off for all object in it.

BTW. If you plan to develop frames with captions (very wanted feature) don`t forget captions can be below frame, but also above, right and left.
