Summary0012310: Feature Request: Ability for OSX Finder to interact with Qt 'Open File' Dialog
DescriptionThis is low priority. Just planting seeds here...

As it is now, there is no way AFAICT to get Finder and Scribus Qt dialog boxes to play with each other. If I have an open Finder window focused on a specific directory and I want to open it in Scribus theoretically I could drag/drop my selection from the Finder window in to the Qt dialog. The outcome of this would be that the specific directory/file would be found immediately in the Qt dialog box. Instead there is no event triggered that makes the 2 dialog boxes interact with each other.

I can't find a way to trigger the drop event on the dialog we use :(

Is this the right class http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5/qdropevent.html ?

well.. we use the drop event, yes.. but no matter what widget I implemented the event receiver on, it never fired.

Managed to get the basics to start to work using the area where the files are listed.. not other parts (at least for now).

@cdradney Can confirm this works as you stated in comment 0012310:0031946 ! (did mantis link to the comment correctly?)
Thanks Craig! This little fix is a huge time-saver for me!

Continuing with the evolution of this feature, low-priority wish list: ability to auto-select and auto-focus the window to the specific file that was dropped in to the file list window. So for example if the directory contained a lot of files, this file could be quickly seen, found, and confidently "OK"d without scrolling through the whole directory looking for the specific file.

Ok.. now the file is selected when its dropped.

@cbradney I just compiled r19168 and I don't see that the file is selected when it is dropped.
I added a quick screencast to show it doesn't work.

Works for me without an issue. I can't get it to scroll to the file though.

cbradney, same. I'm cool with it not scrolling to the file (not that anyone is asking for my approval :P. BTW, is it a Qt thing that depends on improvement in the Qt framework? Anyway, should I open a low-priority feature request for that to be fixed sometime in the future Or forget about it and close this issue?

JLuc, can you help me file a bug report for this on Qt bugtracker. Not sure where and how to do that. Specifically to improve the possibility that when a file is dragged from OSX Finder to Qt New File dialog box that the file is centered and highlighted as well.

Kunda, AFAIK bug reports for Qt should be filed here : https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG

This actually worked for a while and then stopped. I'm assigning this to myself to keep track of it. I need to open a Qt issue for this.
