Platform | AMD XP-2600 - Mdk 10.1+ | OS | Linux | OS Version | 2.6.8.1-10mdk |
Product Version | 1.3.1 | ||||
Summary | 0002597: Minor amendment to FontSample.py
Description | Following comments by mrdocs in the wiki, here is a diff for FontSample.py that produces an output that does not need additional editing. This is for A4 paper, no attempt has been made to tweak the letter size parameters The whole file, as amended is also uploaded 159c159 < tocstyle.charsInRow = 75 --- > tocstyle.charsInRow = 79 223,224c223,224 < paper.lmargin = 50 < paper.rmargin = 50 --- > paper.lmargin = 30 > paper.rmargin = 30 313c313 < [16, 15, fontName + '\n', 23, "l"], --- > [16, 15, fontName + '\n', 28, "l"], 352c352 < header = scribus.createText(paper.leftSide, yPos, paper.textwidth, 35) --- > header = scribus.createText(paper.leftSide, yPos, paper.textwidth, 40)
Additional Information | I think you should put it into both 1.2.3 as well as 1.3.1 CVS, it is actually a pretty useful program for font illiterates like myself who wouldn't know the difference between a 'Beta Dance Regular' and 'Betsy Flanagan Regular'

You do not actually say what it is that needs additional editing. It appears you want the table of contents to be as wide as the actual sample pages and larger text for the table of contents header. The original choice was actually 79 characters per row but I reduced it to 75 because I preferred the table of contents to be narrower than the main document. This was modelled on an old 18th century book that I had just read. A note on the header height. All the text frames are carefully designed to not overlap. This was originally done due to it not being possible to turn off the "text flows around frame" option from the scripter at the time. Although this no longer matters due to the option now defaulting to "off", I still actually regard overlapping frames as a bug in their own right.The patch needs further refinement in this area to avoid the overlap. Note this patch will not work at all on the next version (0.8 series). There are many changes and the functions this patch applies to are very different. |

As there is not actually a bug and the current width is a deliberate design choice by me I am closing this bug. |
