Summary0002612: Clipping paths don't get parsed correctly
DescriptionHi,
i've got a very serious problem with images that contain clipping masks. In some pictures the path is cut of somewhere, so the image is not rendered correctly. In other cases the path has a bezier curve across the image, which is also wrong.

I did extract the path of the image as SVG with imagemagick, and in every case the svg image looks correct, so the clipping mask seems ok.

Also, what is the preferred way of inserting clipped images in scribus ? I did try EPS files first, but 1.3.x seems to have problems with the color model, EPS files are always treated as RGB, even if they are CMYK and contain ICC profiles. The next thing i did try was to convert the images to .PSD or .JPG and use the clipping mask (via the advanced image menu), but then this problem occured.

This means scribus can't really use any kind of exempted pictures for pre-press at the moment, thats why i put severity to major.
Steps To Reproduceuse following test-jpg : http://www.connection-net.de/images/disto_A5.jpg (warning, 6 MB big), select advanced properties, look at the paths. All paths display correctly in photoshop, or via the SVG extraction method mentioned before)

The linked jpeg shows some really awful color shifts. Which application created it in the first place?

It looks the same in Scribus to me as in PS6.

Should not happen and please attach one if yours as a test case please.

as for the eps file, see http://www.connection-net.de/images/disto.zip (9 mb)

I looked into the sourcecode and it seems colorspace is always set to 0 in scimage.cpp, thats why i thought its not available in scribus at the moment. Note, that the eps has no embedded profile, but is CMYK. When i load it in scribus i only can select RGB profiles.

uploaded a smaller PSD version of the same file. The clipping path looks correct in Photoshop.

Is it possible to upload a screenshot of this image opened in Photoshop to show me how it should be?

sure, i also extracted the clipping path as SVG (with imagemagick) to see if the path is written correctly, i'll also add the SVG (which looks correct)

the clipping path is basicly the rounded edges around the product, with some small dents.

Tested and fixed. The EPS comment triggered some digging and I will submit a separate bug.
