Summary | 0004169: Master Page Copy and Paste problems
Description | Elements copied from one master page and pasted to another (target) page are also pasted to the Normal Master Page. Cannot delete from Normal page without deleting from target page.
Steps To Reproduce | Create a new master page - name it OddPages Create another master page - name it EvenPages On the OddPages create a text frame, insert some text and right align it. Copy the text frame Switch to the EvenPages master page and paste Select the text frame and change the text alignment to be left aligned Switch to the Normal master page - you will see you text frame has also been pasted there. If you delete the text frame (on the Normal master) it will also delete the text frame on the EvenPages master page. If you change the name or any other property of the text frame - on the EvenPages master - it will make the same changes to the text frame on the Normal master page.
Additional Information | It seems there is only one object created by the paste operation - but it is being referenced on two pages. Fix required: The paste operation should not reference the text frame on the Normal master page. I can replicate this on WinXP. I have not yet trried it on Linux (Ubuntu).

As well as the above problem, there's a bug. If you select a master page (Edit | Master Page) and click delete, the Normal master is deleted - not the selected. Try playing around with the attached document. |
There are some serious problems with this functionality ! If you have the Arrange Pages (AP) window open (Windows | Arrange Pages), double click a master page to edit it, then delete it from the Edit Master Pages dialog, the page is not removed from the AP window. The list of master pages in the AP window is now non responsive. |
Can you test again with a current version? |
Original problem has been fixed - thanks !! However, the Arrange Pages (AP) window and Edit Master Pages (EMP) window do not synchronise why the EMP window is open. Given the EMP is not modal, this seems to be a design fault. |
Closing then as the synchronization between the "Arrange Pages " and "Edit Master Pages" windows while EMP is opened is really another issue. Afaik this is by design... |
