I've tested your pdf with Acrobat reader 7 and can confirm the issue. Unfortunately, the sla alone won't be sufficient as an export without the images does not allow the reproduce the bug

Unfortunately i'm still unable to reproduce the issue, either with 1.3.3.7 or with 1.3.3.8cvs. I think the issue is related to image handling, so we gonna need the images.

Thanks jghali,

I tested the export settings, oddly enough the problem does NOT happen when exporting a pdf with 300dpi resolution (while a memory issue is more likely when the file ends up 20MB!)
In the compression settings, I noticed the space-saving options could actually be split in 3:
1) resolution for eps graphics
2) compression method: Lossy JPEG
Compression Quality Medium
3) Resample images
So I exported it three times with, just 1), just 2) just 3)
the three exported files weigh
1) 19MB (hardly any gain)
2) 3.1MB
3) 2.2MB
I opened the PDFs in Acrobat, one file at a time.
only case 3) produced an error on page 5, and the error was this time "There was an error while trying to parse an image"

Further investigation shows that the error is linked to images that are not exported ! That is, when the compression setting is applied ( 3) ), the pdf simply does not contain the image at all!

These images are specifically EPS (when inserted within an image frame), and some research indicated that the "Out of memory" error message could be a symptom of other bugs, eg 0001676, 0002086 or 0004877.
As they are very big images (the smallest is 12MB) I thought it is possible that there is a limit to the size of pictures in a sla file, but i converted the eps files into png and they are still 9.6MB, 8.4MB and 4.9MB and all show correctly, even when exported with compression settings 1) 2) and 3).

If this bug needs to be merged with another EPS bug, just let me know.
If you want me to post one of the eps files for you to download, let me know.

>>> As they are very big images (the smallest is 12MB) I thought it is possible that there is a limit to the size of pictures in a sla file

Images are not embedded in a sla file, and i've been able to export file containing more than >100Mb images. Image size that scribus can handle mostly depend on available memory. The bugs you mentionned are probably completely unrelated.

As the bug occurs on page 5, it would be helpful if you upload somewhere eps files from this page and post the link here.

Hi jghali,

You can download one of the eps files here:
http://www.poeware.com/t_shirt.eps
(12.5 MB)

You will notice that the preview is completely different when you import EPS or when you insert it in an image frame (some clipping around the product has been set up).
I then tried to create a new sla with each image, then all three, with the export settings that caused the error, AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN.
- I added a background colour (fill with opacity 20%) and failed to reproduce the issue.
- Even after adding a text in Myriad Pro font, the problem did not happen either.
As the images were not the same size, I did exactly what was on the other file... and chose "Scale to frame size" in the properties.

A new file, one picture only and the problem happened and should be reproductible on your side.
