Summary | 0006042: Loading a second Scribus file fails to find images for image frames
Description | This problem occurs when you have loaded a file, then load a second file from another directory. In the second file, the links to image files is broken or contaminated by the root directory of the first file. Furthermore, the information you get in Extras > Manage Pictures can be confusing.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Load a Scribus file -- does not necessarily need to contain images. 2. Load a second file from another directory without closing the first. 3a. Any images not in the same directory as the second file may not be found -- especially if they are not in a daughter directory. 3b. Check Extras > Manage Pictures. Information about source files for missing images can be unhelpful and confusing. 3c. The problem is "fixed" by closing both files, then reloading the second file, in which case the image files are now found.
Additional Information | I think this may be OS-independent, but haven't had a chance to check myself.

Summary should say: Loading a second Scribus file fails to find images for image frames. |
I'm unable to reproduce the issue on Windows. |
I've just checked this with 1.3.3.10svn (19 July 2007) and it's there also. The problem seems to be that when it loads the second file, it uses the directory of the first file as the reference point for the relative path of images in the second file. |
Cool ;) There are some not so nice things in doc loading code and that will be the a perfect opportunity to have a look at them. |
I've just checked with 1.3.4 (27 May 2007), and it's a problem there too. I think it's time to save image locations in the file as absolute rather than relative. It would also help human-readability of the file. |
No, i don't think so. However working internally with absolute paths is less error prone, and i've already sent mrdocs a patch which try to do so. |
After some testing by mrdocs, a fix for 1.3.3.10svn has been comitted |
Just checked it out -- fixed in 1.3.3.10svn! |
Fix for 1.3.5svn has been committed |
