By "as expected in GhostView 4.8" I mean without any errors.

GSview shows loads of errors here. Open the file in GSview and hit M on your keyboard, then yoou'll see them.

No crash here, but a freeze.

Upgraded to 1.3.4 and that also crashes, attempting to import this file after a few minutes, with same message: "Scribus crashes...: UNKNOWN EXCEPTION".

In response to note from christoph_s, I do see those GSview messages, but none of them are DSC errors. The attached file has been generated by Acrobat Distiller, printing to file from my app which reports no errors. Since both GSview and Scribus are using GhostScript, I don't know how to consider the "Unknown..." messages reported in GSview. This attached file used to load without any problems on Scribus 1.3.3.5-1-win32, on an older slower system using a Via 1ghz cpu with 568Mb and Win2000 SP4.

Forgot to try GIMP 2.2.1.3, but that also opens this attached file almost instantly with no apparent problems or error reported.

With 1.3.4 I just discovered that using the Get Image dialog, available with Image Frames, does allow for successful opening (or import - conceptually I don't understand the difference) of the attached file. I seem to recall that with 1.3.3.9, the program hung with the dialog open when I attempted this approach - perhaps it was just very, very slow, since I did notice a delay in the object appearing in the image preview in 1.3.4, and the file name does not appear as selected UNTIL the preview appears.
